Cocoa Pods

Sowing the future of textiles.

About Us

CocoaFiber™ was founded as a platform for biomaterials innovation, unlocking the potential of agricultural waste from the chocolate industry to transform the way we live and design. Rooted in circular economy principles, CocoaFiber operates as a hub for developing next-generation climate-forward material solutions derived from cocoa pod husks.

This philosophy led to the development of CocoaFiber™, our flagship fiber made from renewable cocoa waste. By beginning our process at the farm level, we not only divert millions of tons of waste from landfills and open burning but also eliminate reliance on virgin raw materials.

Our approach utilizes cellulose, earth's most abundant biopolymer while also restoring nutrients to the soil, reducing CO₂ emissions, and supporting smallholder farmers with new income streams, all while creating biodegradable fibers designed to replace petroleum-based textiles like polyester.

Our Story

Founded by biologist, Shannen-Kaylia Henry, after inheriting her grandfather's cocoa farm in 2022, and inspired by her textile research in India and Italy.

By transforming cocoa pods into biodegradable fibers, we tackle agricultural waste, reduce reliance on polyester, and empower farming communities, reimagining the future of materials.
